Project Info
CMP Construction came to us with the big question – could the balustrade be changed to aluminium without compromising the original vision from Paul Brown Architects? We said…“oui”.
The Attaché team collaborated with CMP and PBA to develop the look and buildabilty of the balustrade. We developed a unique system from scratch – a mechanically constructed design with a sharp, clean look that required no welding and a fast, easy installation. In the process this approach saved approximately $120,000 (and the great CMP site team a few sore backs too).
Our CNC router efficiently pre-drilled close on 30,000 fixing holes in a quick fabrication turnaround, with just eight weeks from initial engagement to the first balustrade arriving on site. From there 600 l/m of our Emissary design went up on the external balconies, our work covering the communal podium area and internal stair balustrade, mechanical ducts and handrails also.
The final result looked great – the balustrades finished in ‘Monument’, a new colour from AkzoNobel” with a distinctive metal finish. So too were the safety specifications exceeded – the system proving far more rigid than expected from the design calculations. We were thrilled to be associated with this dynamic project team and proud to help deliver their ‘belle vue’.
